Local Voices. Powerful Music. One Community.

The Oxford Community Chorus is an all-volunteer ensemble of singers united by a shared love of music. Led by director Don Gober and accompanist Gwen Moore, the chorus performs inspiring programs accompanied by live musicians on the OPAC stage.
The Oxford Community Chorus brings vocalists from Oxford and communities across the region together to learn, rehearse, and perform in a welcoming and collaborative environment.
Its wide-ranging programs may include treasured classics, sacred works, Broadway selections, patriotic favorites, holiday music, and contemporary arrangements. Each performance combines the individual voices of local singers into something powerful, inspiring, and distinctly rooted in our community.
The original chorus was organized by the Oxford Arts Council in 1982 under director Bill Barker and accompanist Bobbie McMahan. Its first concert was presented at the Oxford Civic Center on July 5, 1982.
The Oxford Arts Council reestablished the chorus in 2014, with performances moving to the Oxford Performing Arts Center. Under the direction of Don Gober and with accompaniment by Gwen Moore, the ensemble has grown into one of OPAC’s most beloved community arts programs.

Whether you have sung for decades or are returning to music after years away, there is a place for you. The chorus welcomes new, returning, and former members ages 16 and older.
Membership in the Oxford Community Chorus is open to vocalists ages 16 and older. Participants come from a variety of musical backgrounds and communities throughout the region.
Rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings from 6:30–8:00 p.m. at the Oxford Performing Arts Center. Members work together over several weeks to prepare music for each upcoming performance.
Chorus members should be prepared to attend rehearsals regularly and commit to learning the concert repertoire. Participation offers singers the opportunity to strengthen their vocal skills, build lasting friendships, perform with live musicians, and experience the excitement of taking the OPAC stage.
New, returning, and former members are warmly encouraged to participate.
